The signature did not.<\/h2>\n        <p>For most of the last century, dealing with a Turkish title deed meant going somewhere and standing in a queue. Obtaining a copy of your own registry record, checking what was registered against your property, or starting a transfer all required physical attendance at the Land Registry Directorate that held the file.<\/p>\n        <p><strong>Web Tapu<\/strong>, the online land registry system run by the <strong>Tapu ve Kadastro Genel M&uuml;d&uuml;rl&uuml;&#287;&uuml;<\/strong> (TKGM), changed the administrative half of that. Registered users can view the immovable property held in their name, obtain official documents such as registry records, title certificates and mortgage documents without visiting an office, initiate transactions, grant another person authority in relation to a specific property, and book the appointment at which the matter will be completed.<\/p>\n        <div class=\"wtd-hbox\">\n          <strong>The distinction that matters:<\/strong> Web Tapu digitises the preparation, not the completion. A transfer can be prepared, submitted and tracked online, but the parties still attend the Land Registry Office on the appointment date to sign and to pay, with original documents in hand. Nobody completes a Turkish property transfer without either attending or being properly represented.\n        <\/div>\n        <p>For a foreign buyer or owner there is a step before any of this. Access is secured through <strong>e-Devlet<\/strong>, Turkey&rsquo;s central government authentication platform. Logging in requires e-Devlet credentials, and a foreign national needs a Turkish foreign identity number before those credentials can exist. Until they are done, you cannot read your own record online.<\/p>\n        <p>It is also worth being precise about what this system is not. It is not the public map. Web Tapu sits on the other side of the authentication line: it is where ownership, encumbrances and transactions actually live, and access to a given record is restricted to the owner and to those the owner has authorised.<\/p>\n        <div class=\"wtd-warn\">\n          <strong>Access is not the same as due diligence.<\/strong> A seller showing you a screen is not a registry check. Once you hold credentials, the same login reaches a wide range of public services, not only the registry. Without it, you are dependent on your lawyer and on in-person enquiries for everything that follows.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n      <div class=\"wtd-step\"><div class=\"wtd-step-num\">3<\/div><div class=\"wtd-step-body\">\n        <h3>Log in and locate your immovables<\/h3>\n        <p>Signed in, you can see the property registered in your name and open the records attached to it. This is the moment to read rather than skim: what is recorded against a property matters as much as who owns it.
